Healey Memorandum of Understanding
F.L.I.G.H.T. and the Healey International Relief Foundation (HIRF) have entered into a memorandum of understanding to advance their shared commitment to strengthening health systems in Sierra Leone. Under this agreement, HIRF will leverage its two decades of in-country operational experience and deep relationships with government, hospital, and community partners, while F.L.I.G.H.T. will bring innovative approaches, research expertise, and new funding opportunities to the partnership. Together, the organizations will collaborate to improve medical supply chains, expand training and capacity-building for healthcare workers, and promote sustainable, community-centered models of care that can be scaled across the country. The MOU affirms the Parties’ intention to jointly design programs, share knowledge and data, and align their efforts with donor and national priorities to maximize impact for patients and communities.
Building on work already underway, F.L.I.G.H.T. and Healey are collaborating with frontline clinicians and health facilities in Sierra Leone to strengthen infection prevention, improve access to essential medicines, and enhance the reliability of maternal health supply chains, foundational steps in reducing maternal sepsis and related infections. Through this partnership, the organizations plan to co-develop and deliver targeted training for midwives, nurses, and physicians on early recognition and management of maternal sepsis, while supporting facility-based quality improvement initiatives that address gaps in antibiotics, diagnostics, and sterile equipment. As they expand joint monitoring and evaluation systems, F.L.I.G.H.T. and Healey will use shared data and lessons learned to refine and scale maternal sepsis and maternal infections (MSMI) interventions, ensuring that evidence-based practices are embedded in routine care across their network of partner hospitals and clinics.
